Douglas Blasts Judge Over Son’s ‘Harsh’ Jail Sentence
Michael Douglas’ ex-wife Diandra Douglas has vowed to fight a ruling banning them from visiting their son in prison for the next two years, branding it “harsh” and “unjust”.
Cameron Douglas is currently serving a five-year prison term after being convicted of possessing methamphetamine with intent to distribute and one count of cocaine possession, relating to a drug bust in 2009.
He was recently given an additional four-and-a-half years for smuggling narcotics into his prison cell, and the judge overseeing the case also banned Cameron from receiving any family visits for two years.
However, his mother Diandra, who divorced the Hollywood actor in 2000, is furious about the sentence and has vowed to appeal.
She tells the New York Post’s gossip column PageSix, “Cameron was used because of his famous last name to set an example of ruthless punishment… Humans – and certainly my son – are by their very nature in need of other human contact to maintain mental health…
“We will appeal this sentence… It is way too harsh and unjust. I have not been allowed to see Cameron for the past two months or speak to him. My only communication has been through the mail…
“Two years with no family visitation, with only one call out per month. The hope and love that Cameron receives from his family visits, I believe, is what sustains him through these unbearable times… We boost his self-esteem, of which he has been totally robbed.”

Aug. 18 (Bloomberg) — Billionaire Mukesh Ambani’s Reliance Industries Ltd. was toppled as India’s most valuable company for the first time in four years by Coal India Ltd. as demand for the fuel attracted investors.
Coal India, the world’s biggest producer of the fuel, rose 2.8 percent to 397.90 rupees at the close in Mumbai yesterday, valuing the company at $55.35 billion. Reliance, which declined for the ninth day in the past 10, fell 0.6 percent to 755 rupees, giving it a market capitalization of $54.45 billion.
The state-owned miner has surged 26 percent this year on demand for coal Fake swiss watches, used to generate more than half the country’s electricity. The federal government raised 152 billion rupees ($3.3 billion) selling Coal India shares at 245 rupees each in October in the country’s biggest initial public offering. The miner increased coal prices in February and was included in the key Tissot Replica, 30-member Sensitive Index starting Aug. 8.

Output from Reliance’s KG-D6 block, India’s biggest gas deposit, declined 18 percent in the quarter ended June 30 from a year earlier to 156.2 billion cubic feet, the company said July 25, without providing a reason.
Reliance is seeking BP Plc’s expertise in deepwater drilling to boost gas production after agreeing in February to sell a 30 percent stake in some of its fields to the London- based company for $7.2 billion.
Reliance surpassed state-run Oil & Natural Gas Corp. as India’s biggest company by market value in February 2007.

New Delhi: In a split decision, the parliamentary panel studying the Lokpal bill on Thursday decided to keep around 6 million Group C employees – the bottom layer of government employees – out of the anti-graft ombudsman, leading to 10 members submitting a note of dissent on the draft report.
Sources said the dissent note has been submitted by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Cartier lanieres watches, Communist Party of India-Marxist, Revolutionary Socialist Party and the Samajwadi Party members of the 31-member panel.
BJP MP Harin Pathak said: ‘We have given our dissent note. The draft report appears to be against the sense of parliament conveyed to Anna Hazare.’
The sense of parliament on having Lokayuktas in states, a citizen’s charter and bringing lower bureaucracy under the Lokpal – among the demands set forth by Hazare, was conveyed to Hazare by Prime Minister Manmohan Singh in a letter Aug 27.
Expressing doubt that the panel would recommend a strong Lokpal, Samajwadi Party member Shailendra Kumar termed the Thursday meeting as ‘mysterious’.

He said the panel would hold a brief meeting within 10 days to adopt the final draft report which will then be tabled in both houses of parliament.
The Biju Janata Dal representative, who sided with the Congress members on the issue of keeping Group C out, has given a separate dissent note on the selection process of the Central Bureau of Investigation director.
Another member, Lok Janshakti Party chief Ram Vilas Paswan has also given a dissent note asking for reservation for Dalits, backwards and minorities in the Lokpal panel.
Besides the Group C staff issue, sources said there is a division among the members on bringing the prime minister under the Lokpal and on the autonomy of the CBI.

Special public prosecutor said that the police intends to question Vora in connection with the mobile phones and SIM cards she sold to a man called Murtuza.
Sunday, another woman (not named yet) also approached the police stating she wants to surrender a mobile phone which was also sold to her by Vora.

New Delhi: The Su-30MKI aircraft crashed near Pune on Tuesday due to an unknown fault that gave no indication to the pilot and an expert team from Russia has arrived to address it, Air Chief Marshal N A K Browne today said.
The flying of entire fleet of 120 aircraft which was suspended after the mishap will resume from Monday.
“There was a problem in the fly-by-wire system… This is a new thing. Pilot did not get any warning. There were no indications in the cockpit and the aircraft was out of control Rado classic watches,” the IAF chief told PTI here.
He said the pilot “tried his best to control the aircraft for 15-20 minutes” before ejecting out along with the Weapon Systems Operator (WSO).
Wing Commander G S Sohal was the pilot of the aircraft with Flight Lieutenant U Nautiyal as his WSO.
The first Su-30MKI which had crashed over Rajasthan in 2009 also faced problems in its fly-by wire system.
Asked if the recent air crash was also due to the similar problem Bvlgari Replica, the IAF chief said that was a “different issue”.
The ill-fated Su-30 had taken off from Pune’s Lohegaon air base at 1240 hours and crashed soon after near Wade Bolhai village there at 1310 hours on Tuesday.
