The Brutus is a relic from another time. A time when men approached automobile racing with reckless abandon by cramming the largest BCBG Dresses, most powerful engine available onto a chassis supported by the world’s skinniest tires. Suspension, brakes and cumbersome safety equipment were all scrapped for bullet-shaped bodywork and testicles the size of small planetary bodies. The Brutus boasts a 46-liter BMW V12 engine pulled from a post-World War II fighter plane and a chassis from a 1908 American LaFrance. The engine alone weighs 1,124 pounds and puts out a potent 500 horsepower. Now Top Gear host Jeremy Clarkson has decided that the creation needs to tango with the latest BMW hot rod; the 1 Series M Coupe in his new DVD, Powered Up.

This is not your typical drag race. The Brutus is a chain-driven, fire-breathing hulk that’s happier scaring school children than darting down the drag strip, while the 1 Series M Coupe is as civilized as a sports car gets. How does the competition shake out? Hit the jump to check it for yourself.

Click above to enlarge the Volvo S60 teaser image

You would have to set your way-back machine to the year 2000 in order to witness the last time Volvo released a brand-new mid-size sedan. That is an eternity in the auto industry, and competitors from BMW, Mercedes-Benz, Audi and even Saab have all since received significant updates. What we’re getting at is that it’s high-time for Volvo to introduce a brand-new S60 sedan. With the last of the P2-based S60 sedans set to roll down the Swedish assembly line next month Emilio Pucci Dresses, Volvo has just released its first official exterior image of the totally new mid-sizer that’s scheduled to be shown for the first time in January at the Detroit Auto Show.

The first S60 was a radical departure from previous Swedish bricks BCBG Dresses, and Volvo is looking to make another statement with its newest model along those same lines. Volvo’s shoulder-like design trademark will get a slight overhaul with a “double wave” accent over each wheel instead of just a straight shot from front to rear. We also see definite Audi and Jaguar XF hints in this car’s profile. On the inside, the expected “waterfall” cluster and console will get an update with real crystal, which we definitely don’t expect to survive through to productoin. Volvo has got a lot riding on this new P24 platform, and the once-popular and trend-setting S60 needs to be a big hit for the Swedish brand’s continued survival.

Mental health activists supported by young people are engaged in a direct action to prevent the closing of public mental health clinics in Chicago. You can watch it live here.

For the past year Marc Jacobs Dresses, mental health advocates in Chicago have been opposing the closing of public mental health clinics. Their struggle is captured in this YouTube video:

As you can see BCBG Dresses, their concerns and messages are thoughtful and clear.

23 people opposed to the clinic closings occupied a clinic and were arrested on April 13, 2012.

Right now, hundreds of people in a tent city supporting the protest are risking arrest. And it’s all happening live on-line.

This is the first direct action that I am aware of by those who are affected by mental health service cuts who are putting themselves on the line to oppose the cutbacks. At this moment, protesters are readying themselves for the Chicago police to move in and arrest people. After decades of mental health advocates waiting for those affected by failed mental health care in this country to take direct action, this could well be the Stonewall and Montgomery moment of the mental health movement.

The protests are poised to build until the scheduled closing of the clinics on April 30. It’s happening live here. For those who care about the issues for which they are fighting, and are impressed by their courage and tenacity, think about what we might do to publicize or support what is happening in Chicago. It’s not every day you see dedicated, articulate and thoughtful people in need of mental health treatment and mental health advocates take to the streets and put themselves on the line to fight against community treatment and care cuts.

“Capricorn Cyclo-Works” apparently came and went without my noticing BCBG Dresses, which is too bad Christian Audigier Clothing, as their “Involution” epicyclic-geared motorcycle wheel is one of the cooler doo-dads I’ve ever seen. The gear train is non-load-bearing and free-spinning so that, even if it jams completely, the wheel will continue to function as normal. The vid below shows it in motion.

Chatting at work is serious business for Yammer. The two-year-old start-up has raised a $25 million funding round led by U.S. Venture Partners, complementing the $15 million it has already raised to date. Yammer offers a social network for enterprise customers DKNY Clothing, and has plenty of competition from the likes of Salesforce’s Chatter BCBG Dresses, Socialcast, etc.

Jan. 26 (Bloomberg) — Sara Lee Corp. plans to buy full ownership of the Senseo coffeemaker trademark from partner Royal Philips Electronics NV as the U.S. food producer prepares its coffee business for a spinoff.

Sara Lee will pay Philips 170 million euros ($223 million) for the 50 percent Philips currently owns in the Senseo trademark and Philips will be the exclusive Senseo coffee machine manufacturer and distributor until 2020, the companies said in joint statement today.

“We are planning to grow the Senseo brand and by owning the brand, we have better opportunities to do it,” Michiel Quarles van Ufford, a spokesman for Sara Lee in Utrecht, Netherlands, said in a phone interview.

Sara Lee Executive Chairman Jan Bennink plans to expand the company’s coffee business to rank second in the industry after Kraft Foods Inc. The strategy focuses on the Senseo coffee-pad machine, he said in an interview last year. Bennink has formed a team of Senseo managers dedicated to pushing out new flavors and models. The spinoff is planned for April or May.

Senseo coffee pads compete with Nestle SA’s single-serve Nespresso espresso capsules, the Swiss company’s fastest-growing business. Amsterdam-based Philips and Downers Grove, Illinois- based Sara Lee introduced Senseo in 2001 and more than 33 million of the brand’s coffee machines have been sold, the companies said today.

Philips rose as much as 0.8 percent to 15.50 euros and was up 0.3 percent at 9:51 a.m. in Amsterdam. That pared the stock’s decline this year to 33 percent.
